Scan-to-CGI — objects, faithfully translated

03 Signature Workflow

A workflow where I pull a manufactured product into the digital domain via a 3D scanner, then layer professional modelling and texturing on top of the scan as reference.

Problem

Producing photo-grade CGI of a real piece of furniture or product requires staying loyal to the actual geometry. A scan-based reference takes that ambiguity off the table.

Approach

The raw mesh from the scanner is used only as a scale and form reference. Retopology, manual UVs and PBR texturing are layered on top.

Outcomes

When a client can ship me the actual product, delivery time shrinks noticeably; revision rounds drop; consistency between render and photo improves measurably.
